AAKS x DNA : Bringing Ghanaian Handcraft to your homes across the globe
I am excited to finally be sharing our collaboration with Design Network Africa (DNA), a leading agency for the design and export of handcrafted homeware from all over Africa. We had such fun partnering with DNA previously that we decided to do it again, and wow! What a fantastic project it has been. I am so happy with the outcome.
Our fun collection of decorative homeware accessories includes a set of three totem vessels, a series of raffia fringed wall discs (this time woven in smaller sizes, offering styling combinations in multiples for your home, or the largest as a statement piece), and large-sized woven wall fans. Exclusive to DNA for wholesale, these are all handwoven by our brilliant artisans in Bolga, Ghana.
Our homeware partnership with DNA began in 2019 with the development of sleek basketry shapes and tie-dye fans in the most beautiful colour combinations. Since then, we have also collaborated on an interior design project with Xigera Safari Lodge, a luxury lodge in the iconic Okovango Delta, Botswana, as well as woven basket ranges for international retail shops.
In the words of DNA, “We were inspired by AAKS’ innovations in progressing the artistry of the Bolga style of handweaving through Akosua’s renowned handbag fashion collection. These inventive AAKS shapes, forms, and trims are adapted to create vessels that are available in a vibrant pallet of richly saturated colour combinations and offer an imaginative take on woven basketry.”
