One of the highlights of the year was our collaboration with Rag and Bone. I was approached by them and asked to create two designs for their store. It was such an incredible opportunity for AAKS!

What a whirlwind the last year and a half has been! We have been approached by brands and stores, big and small, to partner up, collaborate, develop custom designs and more.

It has been a busy start to 2021 for AAKS, after an extraordinary 2020. While it was a difficult year for us all in so many ways, for my little brand we have truly never had more exposure, more orders, more press - it was wild. 

After many years living in fast and sometimes frenetic London, moving back to Ghana was a reset. A way to relearn in how to Stop. Pause. Slow way down (not to a screeching halt, mind you). It was also a reaffirmation on sustainability, which is an unconscious lifestyle here.

Super grateful that AAKS has received so much wonderful exposure this year by various publications around the world.

What a whirlwind of a year it's been. COVID -19 had us concerned for a while, but Black Lives Matter came along like a force and my little team has been super busy ever since! We had over 15,000 new followers on our Instagram page and all our stock sold.

Our home decor Floor Storage Baskets are crafted from colourful woven straw and comes in various colours.

Hello everybody again. I hope you and your families are keeping safe and well. I just wanted to give you a quick update about where we’re at here at AAKS. We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Ghana and following news updates daily as this unprecedented time unfolds.

We teamed up with Japanese store United Arrows to create this year’s exclusive power colour collection which we automatically fell in love with as you know how much we love colour. This wasn’t a challenge for us to go completely crazy !

The Bamford collection was our second one and in collaboration with UK’s organic farm Daylesford Organic, this was an exciting minimalist challenge for us to rethink our core design of craftsmanship and to create a unique yet toned down version of our bags in soft tones of navy’s, naturals and with little hints of red too for the season.

We worked on a fun carefree collection with Global Goods Partners which we instantly fell in love as we havent done baskets like this before. The oohs and ahhh in the studio said it all. These cute baskets with raffia pompoms were to die for!

Our Spring / Summer 2019 Collection ‘Tribe' is a collection of bags skilfully handcrafted by our master artisan weavers in Ghana using locally sourced raffia.

Our handwoven bags are showcasing at ‘The Shop Blue Bird’ in an exclusive pop up titled ‘Between Us’ celebrating African Design. An event where 20 African brands connect with buyers, key influencers and investors from all around the globe.

Our Weaving for Change initiative in Burkina Faso is growing steadily! I paid a visit to my team in Ouagadougou to visit our weavers, see beautiful artisan projects around the city and to explore the art and design scene in Ouagadougou.
